While many communities have not been able to host sporting events during COVID-19, Salt Lake has been a leader in showing that it can be done safely and effectively. Over the last several weeks the destination has hosted a variety of tournaments, including the Adrenaline Lacrosse America's Finest Rivalry, Aloha Lacrosse Salt Lax City, Jam On It basketball and several others.

NCAA March Madness Awarded to Salt Lake

Salt Lake is pleased to announce that NCAA March Madness will once again return in 2024! The NCAA Men's 1st & 2nd Rounds will be hosted at the Vivint Smart Home Arena, with the University of Utah serving as the host institution. This will mark the fifth time the arena has hosted a major NCAA basketball tournament. More details on this and other NCAA awards can be found here.

Utah Warriors Announce New Stadium

The Utah Warriors, Salt Lake's professional rugby team, have plans to build a new 10,000-seat multi-sport stadium and have it opened for business by 2023. The final location will be announced in the coming months, and the new stadium is expected to serve as a catalyst for attracting more sporting events in Salt Lake.

Utah Soaks Up Water Polo

Shawn Stringham, CEO of Olympus Aquatics, had a vision to create a unique water polo tournament during COVID-19. The event is designed to attract teams from the western US, and use the successful Utah "bubble" model to protect athletes as well as the local community. The USA Water Polo-sanctioned Salty Splash Classic Water Polo Tournament will make its inaugural debut November 5-7, 2020.

Hockey Continues to Soar in Salt Lake

Salt Lake has hosted numerous hockey events during the pandemic with the Maverik Center playing as host to many. Next month, Salt Lake will welcome the High Mountain Shootout, a USA Hockey-sanctioned tournament, November 5-8, 2020.
