The 68th United Nations Civil Society Conference in Salt Lake City

The 68th United Nations Civil Society Conference is coming to Salt Lake on August 26th-28th. The Building Inclusive and Sustainable Communities will be hosted at the Salt Palace Convention Center and this year’s UN Civil Society Conference, reflecting Salt Lake City’s leadership and demonstrated commitment on sustainability issues, will focus on “to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable by 2030”.

The agenda will explore the interlinkages among all 17 Goals, including critical issues relating to gender. The three-day conference, co-hosted by the UN Department of Global Communications, Salt Lake City, and the NGO Executive Committee, will feature opening and closing plenary sessions, interactive thematic sessions, NGO-sponsored workshops, exhibits and a youth hub. Speakers and attendees will include leaders and other representatives from NGOs, UN agencies, academia, faith traditions, the public and private sectors and youth from around the world.

The Conference is traditionally held at UN Headquarters, but has recently been hosted by global cities, including Melbourne, Australia; Paris; Mexico City; and Bonn, Germany. The 2019 Conference in Salt Lake City will be the first time the event is held in the United States outside of New York. For more information and registration details

New Airport

The Salt Lake City International Airport reconstruction began in 2015 with a target open date of 2020, and like most things in the Beehive State, the project is buzzing right along. The new airport is designed for ease of use, increased effieciency (we’re already top in the nation for on-time flights), sustainability, and phased implementation, and competitive pricing that helps us maintain partnerships with airlines. Combine the updated facilities, increased amount of direct flights and airline partnerships with the fact that downtown is only a 15-minute commute from the airport, and its easy to see why so many people (and airlines) see Salt Lake as an international hub of the West.
