Salt Lake: Ground Zero for Fencing

Salt Lake recently hosted the Fencing Sabre World Cup in January at the Salt Palace Convention Center. Between 2019 and 2020, Salt Lake is proudly hosting more than seven national and international fencing events, leading up to the Junior and Cadet World Championships in April of 2020. Clay Partain weighs in, "We are very fortunate to have such a strong partnership with USA Fencing. The combination of this series of events will produce a large impact to our destination from an economic standpoint, injecting millions of dollars into Salt Lake and the state."

FIS World Championships Support SLC's Olympic Bid

The United States Olympic Committee in late 2018 selected Salt Lake City as the nation's bid city for a future Games. The USOC and the Utah Olympic Exploratory Committee are interested in the Olympics of 2030. The supporters of the bid cite the Olympic region's continued success in staging major winter sports events like the FIS World Championships as one of the competitive advantages of the Salt Lake City efforts.

Major International Biathlon Event Shoots for Gold in Utah

The 2019 BMW Biathlon World Cup came to Soldier Hollow Nordic Center in Midway, Utah from February 14 to 17, 2019. This was the first major international biathlon competition to be held at Soldier Hollow since the 2002 Olympic Winter Games.

VSL's Clay Partain Awarded CSEE Credential

Congratulations to VSL's Director of Sports Market Sales, Clay Partain, for earning the Certified Sports Event Executive (CSEE) credential through the National Association of Sports Commmissions. The CSEE is the most widely recognized credential in sports tourism.
