Game Changer - Kari Holt-Larson

Visit Salt Lake would like to give a warm thank you to Kari Holt-Larson, the Vice President of Community & Special Events at the Utah Jazz. Kari has dedicated a large portion of her life over the past several months, as Utah Jazz worked with community leaders to develop a comprehensive bid for a future NBA All-Star game in either 2022 or 2023. The decision to submit the bid comes on the heels of a $125 million dollar renovation to the Vivint Smart Home Arena. Should Salt Lake host the 2023 game, this would be exactly 30 years since Jazz last hosted in 1993. More on the now famous 1993 game can be found here:

Featured Venue - Zions Bank Real Academy

One of Salt Lake's newest and most unique venues is the Zions Bank Real Academy. Located approximately 25 minutes from downtown Salt Lake City, this amazing facility features a total of 7 regulation-size training fields. Four of the fields will be natural grass and outdoor, with the remaining three fields utilizing a state-of-the-art artificial surface from The Netherlands, including that of the 5,000-seat Zions Bank Stadium. Two of the artificial fields will be housed in the Zions Bank Training Center's iconic 208,000 sq-ft. indoor structure, the largest pre-engineered freespan building in North America. Atop this building will be a solar panel array from Utah’s own Auric Solar, at roughly half the size of its Rio Tinto Stadium installation.

Let The Games Begin!

The only thing better than a successful sporting event, are several overlapping successful events! The USA Curling Arena Nationals, USA Gymnastics Level 9 Western Nationals, and the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Nationals all hit Salt Lake over the same date range in May. The combination of all three events brought over 5,000 attendees from out of state, and several million in economic impact to the destination. And all of this right in the middle of Utah Jazz playoff games! Salt Lake can not only can host a variety of sports, but with over 19,000 lodging rooms in the greater metro area, they can accommodate multiple events simultaneously.
