Salt Lake Hosts Sports Festival in December

This December is a monumental month in sports for Salt Lake when more than eight distinct national and international sporting events will take place in Utah's capital city. Such events include weightlifting, fencing, roller derby, pickleball, basketball, dodgeball, and even a trivia 5-on-5 competition. Salt Lake Has North America's First Olympic-Level Skate Park

The Utah Sports Commission unveiled an Olympic-style skatepark at the Utah State Fairgrounds in late August and hosted the 2019 Van’s Park Series World Championship in early September. The skatepark’s drop-ins are bigger, the banks are tighter and it’s overall more technical than a general park. The Utah Sports Commission opened the skatepark ahead of the debut that skateboarding will make at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo next summer.

USA Weightlifting Lifts Salt Lake to New Heights

It's no secret that USA Weightlifting and Salt Lake are great partners. Previous events include the USA Weightlifting National Championships and Olympic Trials. The weightlifting community will once again return to Salt Lake in December with the USA Weightlifting America Open Finals. This four-day event takes place December 5-8 at the Salt Palace Convention Center in the heart of downtown.

USA Fencing Extends Stay in Salt Lake

USA Fencing, in collaboration with Visit Salt Lake, Utah Sports Commission, and the Salt Palace Convention Center, will have an extended stay in the city during December. The leadership of USA Fencing will be extremely busy hosting three back-to-back events. The festivities kick off with the North American Cup on December 6-9, followed by the Sabre World Cup and SJCC Regional, both happening December 11-15.
